Kapunda Station Bed & Breakfast

Kapunda Station Bed & Breakfast is a traditional hosted bed and breakfast. Enjoy the ambience of a majestic 150 year old colonial building combined with the comforts of today. Included in your stay are complimentary port and chocolates.

There is a games room with a pool table, darts, chess set, jigsaws and more. There is also an outside barbecue area.

The building was originally the Kapunda Railway Station and is now on the National Estate and State Heritage registers. Take in the remarkable history.

It’s thought Burke and Wills’ remains were brought to the station for shipment to Victoria and that Prince Albert, son of Queen Victoria, paid a visit in 1875.

The building’s design and construction bears the hallmarks of the finest colonial public buildings. It successfully combines Anglo and Hispanic architecture and was probably designed by Edward Angus Hamilton. Governor Sir Richard Graves MacDonnell officially opened the building on 13 August, 1860. It was the largest railway station outside Adelaide and played a significant role in conveying the products from the Kapunda and Burra mines to Port Adelaide for export.
