elliston3Located on the scenic West Coast of Eyre Peninsula on spectacular Waterloo Bay, Elliston is a centre for a cereal growing, mixed farming and fishing community.

Enjoy the magnificent rugged West Coast coastline and visit our fantastic secluded beaches where you can swim, fish, surf or simply explore. The unique Elliston playground, park and barbecue area plus picnic areas overlooking Waterloo Bay provide the opportunity to sit back and relax.

With a range of accommodation available throughout the area you can camp by the beach or treat yourself to an apartment or perhaps share a holiday home with family and friends. Stroll from Bird Rock along the Esplanade to the town beach, paddle in the shallows around to the historic jetty and wander back to town on the walking trail for a cappuccino or meal at one of the local businesses.

You may like to venture out to Talia Caves, Mount Camel Beach and in to Venus Bay for lunch at the General Store, then on to Murphys Haystacks and Point Labatt to view the sea lions.

Why not join the locals at the Elliston Hotel – you may hear about the best fishing spots! Visit Walkers Rock beach, which is one of the longest beaches on the West Coast, where you can swim, snorkel, surf and fish. Observe the waterfowl and wading birds that inhabit the wetlands at Lake Newland Conservation Park.

You may like to venture out to Talia Caves, Mount Camel Beach and in to Venus Bay for lunch at the General Store, then on to Murphys Haystacks and Point Labatt to view the sea lions. An exceptional experience awaits at Baird Bay where you can swim with the sea lions and dolphins, weather permitting, then back to Elliston via Port Kenny Hotel for a counter meal, or purchase prawns from Seafood Mezze before returning to Elliston and a quiet spot to view the spectacular sunsets.

On another day you can take a drive to Lock for a coffee and home made sweet from Frosting & Sprinkles, visit the Lock Heritage Museum which is housed in the original police station, drive through one of the conservation parks with beautiful wildflowers, native animals, bird watching and mallee fowls and if you are a keen race-goer plan your trip to include the “Oakbank of the West” races.
